Wednesday, 23rd February 2022, 9.00am - 4.00pm
This brand-new EXPLORE workshop is for all teachers at primary and secondary school level who wish to extend their understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, to enhance and provide a bi-cultural learning environment for students in Aotearoa.
An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty) is critical to working effectively within the education setting and classrooms in Aotearoa. Gaining an appreciation of the context, intentions and on-going significance of the Treaty enables teachers to recognise its applicability to their lives and work.
This one-day workshop provides participants with an understanding of why we have a Treaty, what it says, colonisation and its impacts, and current Treaty issues.
It also provides an opportunity to briefly consider personal responses and actions as a classroom teacher.
This workshop is open to all primary, intermediate and secondary teachers of all languages and to DPs and HoDs.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided. Please detail any dietary needs on the relevant section of the Registration form.
