Terms 1-3
2 x clusters (one Wellington based, one Auckland based).
This new programme is for teachers at primary/intermediate and lower secondary school level who wish to develop or enhance a Spanish language programme and who can connect with native speakers in their community. It is not necessary to be a speaker of Spanish but we do expect a commitment from teachers to learn the language. Our pedagogical and language learning support is offered to both the teacher and the native speaker, to learn alongside each other.
The 2022 programme will allow registered teachers and native speakers to work together to enhance the learning outcomes for students who are new to Spanish language learning. With support from the Latin American Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence, the programme will allow professional learning in a supported environment.
- Workshops with facilitators from Tui Tuia - Learning Circle
- In-school support visits
- Online workshops to offer continued support throughout the programme
Please note we are asking schools to make connections with native speakers to be a part of this programme but the Latin American CAPE will endeavour to support schools that may have difficulty connecting with the community. We will then offer pedagogical support and training to both registered teachers and their native speaker community members. Please also allow some time for your required school processes for non-teachers working alongside teachers within your school to be completed. Schools are expected to be supportive of a Spanish language programme being started or continued during 2022.
Registrations are still open for teachers in the Wellington and Auckland regions to apply for this programme for Terms 1-3 2022. Both teachers and their Community Languge experts are welcome to apply.
This programme is open to all HOD's and primary/intermediate and lower secondary school level Spanish teachers or teachers who wish to learn and teach Spanish.
Registrations are invited from teachers in the Auckland and Wellington regions for 2022.
Free.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided for the full day, face-to-face workshops. Please detail any dietary needs on the relevant section of the registration form.
