15 February - 16 August 2021
Chinese native-speaker language teachers can hold a significant advantage when teaching the language, such as being more idiomatic, having a richer vocabulary, and using a standard model of pronunciation. However, our native speakers still face many challenges in the classroom which can be unique for Chinese teaching and learning. This Grow cluster will help Chinese native-speaker language teachers to address challenges, improve practice and provides the following opportunities:
- Work collaboratively to explore and understand the needs of students when learning an Asian language
- Explore and critically analyse one's own culture, in order to effectively integrate culture into language teaching
- Learn and experiment with modern language teaching pedagogies
- Work creatively and effectively together, thus enhancing your teaching and your existing Chinese programme as a whole
