Teachers are able to engage more deeply with the language and culture of the languages they teach through the scholarship programmes available as part of the immersion stage of the PLD pathway. These are unique professional development opportunities which have great and lasting effects upon teacher capability, student achievement and the success of Learning Languages in New Zealand schools.
ILEP offers 2 scholarship programmes to teachers of Spanish in New Zealand who wish to engage in some immersion stage professional development.
This scholarship programme to Salamanca, Spain is an immersion opportunity lead by the ILEP National Adviser for Spanish. It takes place each year with limited spaces available for registered teachers of Spanish to attend.

Teachers of Spanish in New Zealand can also take part in a one or two week immersion programme in Santander, Spain at the UIMP (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo).
