Teachers are able to engage more deeply with the language and culture of the languages they teach through the scholarship programmes available as part of the immersion stage of the PLD pathway. These are unique professional development opportunities which have great and lasting effects upon teacher capability, student achievement and the success of Learning Languages in New Zealand schools.
To support teachers of French develop through immersion, ILEP runs a yearly scholarship programme to Nouméa, New Caledonia. Whilst experiencing a homestay, teachers' time will be divided between school observations, intercultural inquiry and formal language classes at the University of New Caledonia.
For more information on the French scholarship programme, see the Stage de Nouméa page.
